– i contenuti digitali utilizzati;

– gli strumenti (software e applicativi) con cui è stata implementata la didattica a distanza;

MOOC: “Open Solutions 4 Lifelong Learning”

  • Modulo contenuti;
  • Modulo strumenti;
  • Modulo pratiche;

Brand New Inclusion: pronti, partenza, via!

Brand New Inclusion is a project that comes from a challenge: combining inclusive practices, technologies applied to teaching and learning, and open education to accompany schools in the digital transformation process strongly accelerated by the management of the pandemic crisis due to Covid-19.

With this purpose, the partnership of Brand New Inclusion has gained the funding of the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme for the KA220 “Cooperation Partnership in School Education”.

Backdrop

Brand New Inclusion wants to respond to the call for the construction of the European Education Area by 2025 wanted by the Commission and matches the radical transformation contained in the new Digital Education Action Plan 2021-27 also considering the needs that emerged from the Covid-19 emergency.

The main shortage resides in the acquisition of digital skills by students and teachers to master educational needs.

This requirement meets the lack (Eurydice 2020) of many European educational systems regarding the STEM subjects and the support for students with special needs.

In the study of the OECD (Talis 2019) the teaching staff stated that the first 3 training needs are:

  • ICT skills for teaching
  • skills to manage teaching with special educational needs
  • skills to teach in multicultural or multilingual contexts

In addition, the development of digital skills of students and educators is central as reported in DigComp 2.1 and Digcomp Edu.

Starting from this scenario presented by the European documentation, the activities and outputs of the BNI project have beendesigned according to the needs of the partner schools involved into the project and the related target groups.

What are the project goals to face this scenario?

– Involve the teaching staff of secondary schools, with particular attention to those at the beginning of school career;

– define guidelines for the creation of digital content intended for inclusive teaching, taking into account the different educational needs of the class, through the use of the OER;

– map platforms, web and desktop applications and open and inclusive educational practices used by the partnership in order to increase exchanges and contaminations among partner countries in choosing and knowing digital tools;

– strengthen digital skills, computational thinking and critical thinking of students, through the STEAM methodology;

– involve students with SEN in order to test tools and learning methods suitable for their needs;

– equip the teaching staff of new skills and tools designed to innovate the didactic practices through the exploitation of the opportunities offered by new technologies.

Intellectual outputs

A scientific research

led by the University of Bologna, on the Open Solutions and the Participatory Culture applied to the field of secondary education before, during and after pandemic, involving at least 420 European teachers and 720 students, including students with SEN.

The research will focus on three aspects related to open solutions in the educational field: digital content, digital tools (software and applications), and practices and methodologies based on the use of OER and other Open Solutions, as well as an adaptation of the design according to a student-centred approach.

At the end, the development of guidelines for the creation of open and inclusive digital content is expected.

Didactic experimentation

of learning units related to STEAM subjects based on the use of open solutions (STEAM-kit). The activities contained in the Learning Units aim at developing digital skills, problem solving skills, computational thinking and critical thinking.

The Learning Units will be tested, under the supervision of the UCLL, during the school year 2022/2023 in partner schools (20 teachers, 200 students including students with SEN). At the end of the experimentation will be implemented a collection of the results through an evaluation tool that allows to measure the skills and competences acquired by students in the areas addressed by the didactic experimentation.

A MOOC “Open Solutions 4 Lifelong Learning”

coordinated by Archilabò. The training course aims at defining standards for the use of open solutions in distance learning and in the classroom. The MOOC will be developed around the following modules:

  • Open Content;
  • Open Tools;
  • Open Practices;
  • Learning Units.

The MOOC will be available in asynchronous mode, ensuring a diffusion of the contents that exceeds the organizations component the partnership.

All the outputs

Digital resources and tools for students

List of educational digital tools and resources that students can use to learn, revise, study and practice by themselves or with other school mates/Peers.

It is structured by functions/use, providing brief information on the tool or resource, with a link to it.

The aim is to focus on open-access tools, unfortunately not all of the tools listed are available in full for free: some of them are available for a fee, but all of them have a free version as well, or a free trial.

The tool is edited by the Institute Lazzaro Spallanzani (Castelfranco Emilia).

Co-financed Project by Erasmus+ Program of the European Commission | Project Code: 2021-1-IT02-KA220-SCH-000029596

Ποιοι είναι οι στόχοι του έργου για να αντιμετωπίσετε αυτό το σενάριο;

Μια MOOC “Open Solutions 4 Lifelong Learning”

 Definieer richtlijnen voor het creëren van digitale inhoud die bedoeld is voor inclusief onderwijs, rekening houdend met de verschillende educatieve behoeften van de klas, door het gebruik van de OER;

– Breng de platforms, web, – en desktopapplicaties en open en inclusieve educatieve praktijken in kaart die door het partnerschap worden gebruikt om uitwisselingen en vermengingen tussen partnerlanden te vergroten bij het kiezen en kennen van digitale tools;

Versterk digitale vaardigheden, computationeel en kritisch denken van studenten, via de STEAM -methodologie ;

– Betrek studenten met specifieke onderwijsbehoeften om hulpmiddelen en leermethoden te testen die geschikt zijn voor hun behoeften;

A MOOC “Open Solutions 4 Lifelong Learning”

– определяне насоки за създаване на цифрово съдържание в подкрепа за приобщаващо обучение, като се вземат предвид различните образователни нужди и използването на образователни ресурси със свободен достъп (OER);

– споделяне на добри практики свързани с използването на платформи, уеб и настолни приложения, както и отворени практики за образователна интеграция от партньорите по проекта;

– Pазвитие на цифровите умения, аналитичното и критичното мислене на учениците, чрез прилагането на STEAM методология;

–  включване на ученици със специални образователни потребности, с оглед избиране на инструменти и методи на обучение, съобразени с техните нужди;

O1 | Scientific research | OPEN SOLUTIONS AND PARTICIPATORY CULTURE IN SECONDARY EDUCATION

The research pursued by University of Bologna is a qualitative research.

The research focus on three aspects related to open solutions in the educational field: digital content, digital tools (software and applications), and practices and methodologies based on the use of OER and other Open Solutions, as well as an adaptation of the design according to a student-centred approach.

This analysis allowed to collect data on the experience of partners schools during the pandemics, allowing us to go in-depth with the relationship that Teachers endure with digital technology.

Therefore, the research also pursued interpretive goals, trying to mobilize theoretical concepts that are intertwined: Knowledge, Competence and Education.

The research in its full version is available here.

Output 2 | STEAM
